Journal Owners
HIKAMI: Jurnal Ilmu Al-Qur’an dan Tafsir is an academic journal owned and published by Sekolah Tinggi Kulliyatul Qur’an (STKQ) Al-Hikam Depok. The journal reflects the commitment of the institution, particularly its Qur’anic Sciences and Tafs?r Study Program, to advancing scholarly research and knowledge in Qur’anic Studies, Tafs?r Studies, ?Ul?m al-Qur??n, and related fields in accordance with the journal’s focus and scope.
STKQ Al-Hikam Depok provides institutional support for the journal’s development and sustainability. This support is intended to strengthen HIKAMI’s role as a platform for rigorous scholarly inquiry and academic exchange while upholding the principles of academic integrity, transparency, and editorial independence.
Editorial Independence
Although HIKAMI is institutionally owned by STKQ Al-Hikam Depok, the Editor-in-Chief and editorial team exercise academic and editorial independence in managing the journal. Editorial decisions are made on the basis of scholarly merit, originality, methodological rigor, relevance to the journal’s focus and scope, and compliance with publication ethics, without undue institutional interference or pressure.
The Editor-in-Chief and editorial team hold primary responsibility for the journal’s editorial operations, including initial manuscript assessment, the selection and appointment of reviewers, the peer-review process, and decisions concerning manuscript acceptance or rejection. These decisions are made independently of the institutional interests or preferences of the journal’s owner. Neither ownership nor institutional affiliation shall be used to influence the evaluation or publication of individual manuscripts.
HIKAMI is committed to identifying, preventing, and managing potential conflicts of interest in its editorial processes. Editors and reviewers are expected to disclose relevant conflicts and refrain from handling manuscripts where such conflicts could compromise, or reasonably be perceived to compromise, their impartiality. Editorial decisions must remain objective, transparent, and grounded in established scholarly and ethical standards.
Responsibilities of the Journal Owner
The journal owner is responsible for providing institutional support, ensuring the sustainability of the journal, and maintaining an environment that enables responsible scholarly publishing. The owner also has responsibility for appointing the Editor-in-Chief and overseeing the journal’s institutional governance in accordance with applicable regulations and established procedures.
Any appointment, evaluation, or dismissal of the Editor-in-Chief should be based on transparent criteria and substantial grounds, such as serious misconduct, persistent failure to fulfil agreed responsibilities, or other legitimate reasons consistent with academic integrity and editorial independence. Such actions must not be used to influence editorial decisions or suppress scholarly arguments solely because they conflict with the preferences of the journal owner.
HIKAMI’s governance framework is informed by the principles outlined in Panduan Editorial Pengelolaan Jurnal Ilmiah (Editorial Guidelines for the Management of Scientific Journals), issued by Indonesia’s RISTEK-BRIN. In line with these principles, HIKAMI seeks to uphold objectivity, transparency, accountability, and freedom from conflicts of interest throughout its editorial and publication processes.
Through this framework, HIKAMI aims to maintain a clear distinction between institutional ownership and editorial authority, ensuring that the journal’s academic direction and publication decisions are guided by scholarly standards and publication ethics.
