AUTHOR GUIDLINES

Thank you for considering HIKAMI: Journal of Qur’anic Studies and Tafsir as a venue for your scholarly publication. Authors are requested to carefully follow these guidelines before submitting manuscripts.

1. General Requirements

  • Manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration by any other journal.
  • Submissions may be written in English, Arabic, or Indonesian.
  • Articles must be relevant to the focus and scope of HIKAMI.
  • Manuscripts may consist of:
    • Research Articles
    • Conceptual Articles
    • Critical Literature Reviews

2. Scope of Manuscripts

Submitted manuscripts should relate to one or more of the following areas:

  • Nusantara Qur’anic Exegesis (Tafsir Al-Qur’an Nusantara)
  • Ad-Dakhil fi al-Tafsir
  • Qur’anic Sciences (‘Ulum al-Qur’an)
  • Living Qur’an Studies
  • Classical, Medieval, and Contemporary Qur’anic Studies

3. Manuscript Structure

The manuscript should be arranged in the following order:

Title

  • Concise, informative, and reflects the content of the study.
  • Maximum 20 words.

Author Information

Include:

  • Full name(s)
  • Institutional affiliation
  • Email address
  • ORCID ID (recommended)

Abstract

  • Written in English.
  • Approximately 150–250 words.
  • Includes background, objectives, methods, findings, and conclusion.

Keywords

  • Provide 3–5 keywords.

Main Text

The manuscript should contain:

  1. Introduction
  2. Method
  3. Results and Discussion
  4. Conclusion
  5. References

4. Manuscript Formatting

  • File format: Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx)
  • Paper size: A4
  • Font: Times New Roman
  • Font size: 12 pt
  • Line spacing: 1.5
  • Margins: 2.5 cm on all sides
  • Article length: 5,000–8,000 words

5. Citation and References

  • Authors are encouraged to use reference management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote.
  • References should follow the APA Style (7th Edition) unless otherwise specified in the journal template.
  • At least 80% of references should come from scholarly sources published within the last 10 years.
  • Priority should be given to journal articles, books, and reputable academic sources.

6. Ethical Standards

Authors must ensure that:

  • The manuscript is free from plagiarism.
  • Data and findings are presented honestly and accurately.
  • All cited sources are properly acknowledged.
  • Any conflict of interest is disclosed.

7. Peer Review Process

All manuscripts undergo:

  1. Initial editorial screening
  2. Similarity checking
  3. Double-blind peer review process
  4. Editorial decision (Accepted / Minor Revision / Major Revision / Rejected)

8. Submission Procedure

  • Manuscripts must be submitted through the journal’s online submission system (OJS).
  • Authors should complete all metadata during submission.
  • Incomplete submissions may be returned before review.

9. Publication Fee

Information regarding Article Processing Charges (APC), if applicable, is available on the Author Fees page.

10. Copyright

Authors retain copyright while granting the journal the right of first publication according to the journal’s licensing policy.
